User guide supplement for Windows and Android

This supplement explains how to start with the prepared collection and use the new inside images. The existing manuals remain valid.

Which collection does the app start with?

Private collection package
On the first start with no existing collection, the prepared collection of 2,050 media items and 2,199 inside images is loaded. This applies to the separate private delivery containing this collection.
Existing collection
Your existing collection is retained. An update or reinstallation does not silently replace it with the prepared collection. To use the new data, deliberately restore the supplied private full backup.
Public demo
The public 45-day demo starts empty. It does not contain the personal collection or its inside images. You may choose to add the sample media offered by the app.

Restore the prepared collection manually

  1. Open Backup and restore. Select all media types and use JSON backup to create a complete backup of your current collection. Keep an additional copy outside the app.
  2. Choose Read backup and open the supplied private full backup. Select the complete collection file if you want to restore the whole prepared collection.
  3. Check the filename, preview and scope. Confirm the restore only when you are sure you have selected the correct data. Afterwards, check the item count and a few familiar entries.

Important: Restoring a backup can replace existing data. Always back up your current collection first. The new prepared collection does not automatically replace changes you have made since the source backup.

Images, numbers and catalog information

Booklet / Inside images

Open a media item and choose Booklet / Inside images. The button appears only when confirmed inside images are assigned to the item. The gallery displays the selected image; other images appear when you select them.

Your number and the original volume are separate

CD and book fields now use the full label Number. For books and LTBs, the original volume or issue number remains a separate field. Your own sequence number and shelf-board number are independent. It is fine to leave your own fields empty; numbers are not assigned automatically.

Understanding book years and covers

The added book years refer to the bibliographic first publication. They do not establish the production year of your own copy. Researched covers are edition references; they do not physically confirm your own edition. An existing original title is not replaced merely because a catalog title differs.

Print and PDF

Long entries wrap at meaningful breaks. Related month and year information should stay together. Stored titles are unchanged. Shelf-divider rows remain yellow across the table, with repeated headings for lists spanning several pages.

Windows speech output

The existing Windows speech output is retained. Use the speech test and check the microphone and sound on your device. Available voices, speech services and device settings determine actual operation.
